Q. Calculate the masses of cane sugar and water required to prepare 250 grams of 25% cane sugar solution-

Solutions

Solution:

Mass percentage of sugar = 25
We know that
Mass percentage $= \frac{\text{Mass of solute}}{\text{Mass of solution}} \times100$
So, $25=\frac{\text{Mass of cane sugar}}{\text{250}} \times100$
or Mass of cane sugar $= \frac{25\times250}{100}=62.5$ grams
Mass of water $= \left(250 - 62.5\right) = 187.5$ grams
