Q. Calculate the concentration of $NaOH$ solution in g/ml. which has the same normality as that of a solution of $HCl$ of concentration $0.04 \,g/ml$

UP CPMTUP CPMT 2008

Solution:

$N=n \times M$
$M=\frac{no.of. moles}{Vol. in \left(L\right)}=\frac{\frac{0.04}{36}}{10^{-3}}$
$=\frac{1.1\times10^{-3}}{10^{-3}}=1.1$
$N=1\times1.1=1.1\,N$
M of NaoH $=\frac{\frac{x}{40}}{10^{-3}}$
where x is wt. o f NaOH in g.
$1.1\times10^{-3}=\frac{x}{40}$
$x=4.4\times10^{-2}$
$=0.044 \,g/ ml$
