Q. Calculate $K_c$ for the reversible process given below if $K_P = 167$ and $T = 800^\circ C$
$ CaCO_3 (s) \rightleftharpoons CaO(s) + CO_2 (g)$

Solution:

$K_p =K_c(RT)^{\Delta n_g} $
For Eq. $CaCO_3 (s) \rightleftharpoons CaO(s) + CO_2 (g),\Delta n_g = 1$
$ K_c = \frac{K_p}{(RT)^\Delta n_g}$
$ = \frac{167}{(0.0821 \times 1073)^1}=1.89$
