Q.
$ CO_{2} $ is transported in blood mostly by means of
AFMCAFMC 2010Breathing and Exchange of Gases
Solution:
Transport of carbon dioxide by blood is much easier than that of oxygen due to high solubility of $CO _{2}$ in water. $7 \%$ of $CO _{2}$ is dissolved in plasma, $23\%$ as carbaminohaemoglobin and $70 \%$ as bicarbonates. Major fraction of carbon dioxide released during cellular respiration is transported by blood in the form of sodium bicarbonate in plasma.
