Q. By what percentage should the pressure of a given mass of a gas be increased so as to decrease its volume by 10% at a constant temperature?

Kinetic Theory

Solution:

$\frac{PV}{T} = \frac{P' \left(90/100\right)V}{T} $
or $\frac{P'}{P} = \frac{100}{90} = 1+ \frac{10}{90} $
or $\frac{P' - P}{P} = \frac{10}{90} = 11.1 \% $
