Q. By diluting a weak electrolyte , specific conductivity $\left(\mathrm{K}_{\mathrm{c}}\right)$ and equivalent conductivity $\left(\lambda_c\right)$ change as-

NTA AbhyasNTA Abhyas 2020Electrochemistry

Solution:

When the solution of a weak electrolyte is diluted, the volume of the solution increases, hence equivalent conductivity $\left(\lambda_c\right)$ increases. However, during this process, the number of current carrying particles per $c m^{2 \, }$ decreases, hence specific conductivity $(K)_{c}$ decreases.
