Q. Bond angle in alcohols is slightly less than the tetrahedral angle because of

Alcohols Phenols and Ethers

Solution:

The oxygen in alcohols is $s p^{3}$ hybridised but it has two lone pairs present on it and repulsion in lone pair-lone pair is greater than bond pair-bond pair repulsion. Thus bond angle of alcohols decreases from tetrahedral angle.
