Solution:

Blood cells do not shrink in blood because blood is isotonic
When a cell is placed in a solution having an osmotic pressure equal to its own, the cell maintains its normal volume. As isotonic solution has the same osmotic pressure as the cells contained in it, there is no concentration gradient
