UP CPMTUP CPMT 2005

Solution:

Biogas is a gas produced when organic matter of animal or plant origin ferments in an oxygenfree environment. This type of fermentation occurs naturally in swamps and spontaneously in landfills containing organic waste. It can also be induced artificially in digestion tanks to treat sludge, industrial organic waste, farm waste, etc. Biogasprimarily consists of methane ($CH_4$) and carbon dioxide, with varying amounts of water, hydrogen sulfide ($H_2S$), oxygen and other compounds.
