Q. Between the proton and neutron in a nucleus:

Rajasthan PMTRajasthan PMT 2004

Solution:

- In a nucleus, protons and neutrons are bound to one another due to nuclear forces. If the distance between nucleons is of the order of $10^{-15} \,cm$, then nuclear force is much greater than gravitational and electromagnetic forces. Nuclear forces are primarily the forces of attraction and are responsible in binding of nucleons in a nucleus.
