Solution:

When benzene reacts with acetyl chlorine $ (C{{H}_{3}}COCl) $ in the presence of $ AlC{{l}_{3}}, $ acylation of benzene takes place and acetophenone is obtained as product. This reaction is known as Friedel-Crafts acylation.
