Q. At zero degree kelvin a piece of Germanium

Semiconductor Electronics: Materials Devices and Simple Circuits

Solution:

Germanium in the pure form is a semiconductor at room temperature and has enough electrons to conduct electricity. However, at zero kelvin, it behaves like an insulator as at this stage, the electrons are in the bonded arrangement and are not free for conduction.
