Q. At what temperature (in kelvin) is the rms speed of hydrogen molecules the same as oxygen molecules at $1327\text{℃}$ ?

Solution:

$v _{ H 2}= v _{ O 2}$

$\sqrt{\frac{3 RT _{ H 2}}{ MH _{2}}}=\sqrt{\frac{3 RT _{ o 2}}{ MO _{2}}}$

$So , \sqrt{ M _{ O 2} T _{ H 2}}=\sqrt{ M _{ H 2} T _{ O 2}}$

$32 \times T _{ H 2}=2 \times 1600$

$T _{ H 2}=2 \times \frac{1600}{20}=100$
