Q. At a constant pressure, what should be the percentage increase in the temperature in kelvin for a 10% increase in the volume

States of Matter

Solution:

Applying Charle's law $\frac{V_1}{T_1} = \frac{V_2}{T_2} ; V_2 = V_1 + 0.1\,V$ $T_2 = T_1 + \frac{x}{100} T_1$ or $\frac{V_1}{T_1} = \frac{V_1 + 0.1 \,V_1}{T_1 + 0.01 x T_1} $ or $\frac{V_1}{T_1} = \frac{V_1 (1 + 0.1)}{T_1 (1 + 0.01 x)}$ or 1 + 0.01 x = 1.1 Hence, x = 10 %
