Solution:

$ \sqrt{\frac{3 RT }{ M }}=\sqrt{\frac{\alpha+5}{\alpha}} \sqrt{\frac{8}{\pi} \frac{ RT }{ M }} $
$3=\frac{\alpha+5}{\alpha} \frac{8}{\pi} $
$ \alpha=28$
