Q. At $25^{\circ} C$ and $730 \, mm$ pressure, $730\, mL$ of dry oxygen was collected. If the temperature is kept constant what volume will oxygen gas occupy at $760\, mm$ pressure?

States of Matter

Solution:

$P_1=730 \,mm$
$V_1=730\, mL$
$V_2=?$
$P_2=760\, mm$
$\therefore P_1 V_1=P_2 V_2$
$V_2=\frac{P_1 V_1}{P_2}=\frac{730 \times 730}{760}=701\, mL$
