Q. At $1990 K$ and 1 atm pressure, there are equal number of $Cl _{2}$ molecules and $Cl$ atoms in the reaction mixture. The value $K _{ P }$ for the reaction $Cl _{2( g )} \rightleftharpoons 2 Cl _{( g )}$ under the above conditions is $x \times 10^{-1}$. Solution:

$Cl _{2} \rightleftharpoons 2 Cl$

Let mol of both of $Cl _{2}$ and $Cl$ is $x$

$P _{ Cl }=\frac{ x }{2 x } \times 1=\frac{1}{2}$

$P _{ Cl _{2}}=\frac{ x }{2 x } \times 1=\frac{1}{2}$

$K _{ p }=\frac{\left(\frac{1}{2}\right)^{2}}{\frac{1}{2}}=\frac{1}{2}=0.5$

$ \Rightarrow 5 \times 10^{-1}$
