Q. Assertion When NO reacts with $FeSO _{4}$, a brown coloured complex is formed.
Reason In the complex, the coordination number of Fe is $+6$.

AIIMSAIIMS 2009

Solution:

$FeSO _{4}$, when reacts with $NO$, a brown colour complex, called ferrous nitroso sulphate is formed.
$FeSO _{4}+ NO \xrightarrow{ H _{2} O }\left[ Fe ( OH )_{5} NO \right] SO _{4}$
In this complex, the coordination number of $Fe$ is $6 $ .
