Q. Assertion The resistance of an ideal voltmeter should be infinite.
Reason The lower resistance of voltmeters gives a reading lower than the actual potential difference across the terminals.

AIIMSAIIMS 2011

Solution:

An ideal voltmeter must have resistance infinity, so that all the voltage that it measures is across the terminals, instead of losing some in voltmeter circuitry.
Hence assertion and reason both are correct and reason is correct explanation of assertion.
