Q. Assertion : The number of electrons in a p-type silicon semiconductor is less than the number of electrons in a pure silicon semiconductor at room temperature.
Reason : It is due to law of mass action.

AIIMSAIIMS 2005Semiconductor Electronics: Materials Devices and Simple Circuits

Solution:

According to law of mass-action
$n_{i}^{2}=n_{e} n_{h}$
For $p$-type semiconductor, number of electrons is less than the number of electrons in a pure silicon semiconductor that is for $p$-type semiconductor, $n_{e} $n$-type semiconductor has excess of electrons.
