Q. Assertion Product of mass and velocity (i.e. momentum) is basic to the effect of force on motion.
Reason Same force for same time causes the same change in momentum for different bodies.Physics Question Image

Laws of Motion

Solution:

As we know, momentum, $p =m v$
Change in $p$ can be brought by changing force $F$ i.e.
As, $F =\frac{d p }{d t}=$ rate of change of momentum with time.
$\Rightarrow d p = F d t$
$\Rightarrow m d v = F d t$
So, in order to keep, $F d t$ constant, $m d v$ should be constant, here $m$ and $d v$ can change from one body to another body.
Thus, same force for same time can cause different change in momentum for different bodies.
Therefore, Assertion is correct but Reason is incorrect.
