Solution:

Nitrogen-fixing bacteria that is found in legume root cannot survive in cells that have oxygen because in the presence of oxygen the nitrogen formation cannot take place. This is a symbiotic relationship where the root nodules provide nutrition and a place to live the bacteria and the bacteria provides nitrogen to the plant.
For this condition, a molecule known as leg haemoglobin is present which helps in removing the oxygen from the cell so that the bacteria can fix nitrogen.
