Q. Assertion: Molecular nitrogen is less reactive than molecular oxygen.
Reason: The bond length of $N_2$ is shorter than that of oxygen.

AIIMSAIIMS 2007

Solution:

Bond order of $N _{2}=3$, bond order of $O _{2}=2$ Higher the bond order, higher is the bond dissociation energy i.e. higher stability or less reactivity. Thus $N _{2}$ is less reactive than $O _{2}$.

Higher the bond order, shorter is the bond length. Higher bond order of $N _{2}$ shows its shorter bond length.
