We know that, magnetic dipole posses maximum potential energy when magnetic moment and magnetic field are anti-parallel. A current loop can be treated as a magnetic dipole. When the current loop has an area, $A$ and carries a current, $I$ then the magnetic dipole moment is given by $M=I A .$
