Q. Assertion : It is not possible to use ${ }^{35} Cl$ as the fuel for fusion energy.
Reason : The binding energy of ${ }^{35} Cl$ is too small.

AIIMSAIIMS 2005Atoms

Solution:

${ }^{35} Cl$ has a large binding energy therefore, it cannot be used a fuel for fusion energy. This can be explained as we know that the binding energy for very light (and for very heavy) nuclides is small as compared to intermediate nuclides. It means light nuclides (and heavy) nuclides are less stable than that of intermediate nuclides.
