Q. Assertion In equation $\Delta Q=\Delta U+p \Delta V$, quantities on the both sides are intensive.
Reason The product of an intensive variable like $p$ and an extensive quantity $\Delta V$ is extensive.

Thermodynamics

Solution:

In equation $\Delta Q=\Delta U+p \Delta V$, quantities on both sides are extensive. This is because, $\Delta Q$ is clearly proportional to the total mass of the system and hence it is extensive. On the right hand side, $\Delta U$ is an extensive variable. Also, the product of an intensive variable like $p$ and an extensive quantity $\Delta V$ is extensive.
Therefore, Assertion is incorrect but Reason is correct.
