Q. Assertion: Identification of cathode and anode is done by the use of a thermometer.
Reason: Higher is the value of reduction potential, greater would be its reducing power.

AIIMSAIIMS 1999

Solution:

Identification of cathode and anode is done by using ammeter. The liberated electrons at the anode after oxidation flow to the cathode side of cell. So the ‘positive electricity’ flow from cathode to the anode.
