Q. Assertion : Equilibrium constant for the reverse reaction is the inverse of the equilibrium constant for the reaction in the forward direction.
Reason: Equilibrium constant depends upon the direction in which the reaction follows.

Equilibrium

Solution:

Let us consider,
$ H _2( g )+ I _2( g ) \rightleftharpoons 2 HI ( g ) ; K_C=\frac{\left[ HI ^2\right.}{\left[ H _2\right]\left[ I _2\right]} $
For reverse reaction $2 HI ( g ) \rightleftharpoons H _2( g )+ I _2( g )$
Then,
$K_C^{\prime}=\frac{\left[ H _2\right]\left[ I _2\right]}{[ HI ]^2}=\frac{1}{K_C}$
