Q. Assertion: An ordinary filter paper impregnated with collodion solution stops the flow of colloidal particles.
Reason: Pore size of the filter paper becomes more than the size of colloidal particle.

Surface Chemistry

Solution:

Colloidal particles can pass through ordinary filter paper because the pores are too large. However, the pores of filter paper can be reduced by impregnating with 'collodion' solution to stop the flow of colloidal particles. Thus, pore size of filter paper becomes less than the size of colloidal particles.
