Q. Assertion (A) $SF _{6}$ cannot be hydrolysed but $SF _{4}$ can be.
Reason (R) Six F-atoms in $SF _{6}$ prevent the attack of $H _{2} O$ on sulphur atom of $SF _{6}$.

The p-Block Elements - Part2

Solution:

Both Assertion and Reason both are correct and Reason is the correct explanation of Assertion. $SF _{4}$ can be hydrolysed but $SF _{6}$ can not because six F-atoms in $SF _{6}$ prevent the attack of $H _{2} O$ on sulphur atoms of $SF _{6}$.
