Q. Assertion (A) $s$-orbital electron will be more tightly bound to the nucleus than $p$-orbital electron.
Reason (R) $Z_{\text {eff }}$ experienced by the electron decreases with increase of azimuthal quantum number $(l)$.

Structure of Atom

Solution:

$s$-orbital electron will be more tightly bound to the nucleus than $p$-orbital electron. $Z_{\text {eff }}$ experienced by the electron decreases with increase of azimuthal quantum number $(l)$.
Thus, both $A$ and $R$ are correct but $R$ is not the correct explanation of $A$.
