Q. Assertion (A) Neuroglial cells are known as the packing cells of brain.
Reason (R) A type of neuroglial cells forms the myelin sheath around axon.

Neural Control and Coordination

Solution:

Both Assertion and Reason are correct and Reason is the correct explanation of Assertion.
The neuroglial cells are of three types, i.e. astrocytes, oligodendrocytes and microglia. Out of these, oligodendrocytes are the cells which form the myelin sheath around axon, thus are also called the packing cells of the brain. The other cells like astrocytes are responsible for the separation of two neurons by providing insulation and microglia are phagocytic cells. Nearly $50\%$ of all brain cells are neuroglia.
