Reason (R) Cardiac muscle tissue provides rhythmic contraction to the heart.

Structural Organisation in Animals

Solution:

Both Assertion and Reason are correct and Reason the correct explanation of Assertion.
Cardiac muscle tissue is a contractile tissue present only in the heart. Cell junctions present in the plasma membranes of cardiac muscle cells get fused and make them stick together. Communication junctions or intercalated discs at some points allow the cells to contract as a unit, i.e. when one cell receives a signal to contract, its neighbours are also stimulated.
