Q. Assertion (A) Aniline does not undergo alkylation and acetylation.
Reason (R) Nitrogen of aniline acquires positive charge in the presence of $AlCl _{3}$.

Amines

Solution:

Aniline does not undergo Friedel Crafts reaction (alkylation and acetylation) due to salt formation with $AlCl _{3}$, (the Lewis acid) which is used as a catalyst. Due to this nitrogen of aniline acquires positive charge and hence, act as a strong deactivating group for further reaction.
