Solution:

The respiratory quotient is the ratio of the volume of carbon dioxide evolved to the volume of oxygen consumed in respiration. The respiratory quotient of tripalmitin (fatty acid) is 0.7, and that if protein is 0.9, glucose is 1 and oxalic acid is 4 during their aerobic respiration.
