Q. Arrange the steps of PCR in decreasing order of temperature.

NTA AbhyasNTA Abhyas 2020Biotechnology : Principles and Processes

Solution:

PCR is Polymerase chain reaction. This technique is used to form numerous copies of a specific segment of DNA. Thus large quantities of DNA are obtained that are required for various experiments in medicine, molecular biology, forensic biology etc. The steps are:
$1.$ Denaturation of the template into single strands. The temperature is 94 degree celsius.
$2.$ Annealing of primers to each original strand for new strand synthesis. the temperature is 50-60 degree celsius
$3.$ Polymerisation :Extension of new DNA strands from the primers. The temperature is 72 degree celsius.
