Coupling reaction between arenediazonium cation and an aromatic compounds which bear powerful electron-releasing groups like -$OH, —NH_{2}, —NHR$, or$—NR_{2}$. Hence toluene, having weak electron-releasing $—CH_{3}$ group cannot couple with diazonium cation.
