Q. Anhydrous ferric chloride is prepared by:

NTA AbhyasNTA Abhyas 2022

Solution:

$\left(\right. 1 \left.\right)$ On heating ferric chloride we get $\text{FeCl}_{\text{2}}$ and $\text{Cl}_{\text{2}}$
$\left(\text{2}\right) \, \text{2Fe} + \left(\text{3Cl}\right)_{\text{2}} \rightarrow \left(\text{2FeCl}\right)_{\text{3}}$ (anhydrous);
$\left(\text{3}\right) \text{,} \left(\text{4}\right)$ contain aqueous medium due to which hydrated ferric chloride is formed, anhydrous ferric chloride is not formed.
