Angiotensinogen is a plasma protein, produced and secreted by the liver cells. Renin enzyme secreted by juxtaglomerular cells acts on angiotensinogen to release 10 amino acid peptide angiotensin-1. Macula densa is actually a plaque in the wall at the end of thick ascending limb of nephrons.
