Q. Analyze the events occurring during every stage of the cell cycle, how the amount of DNA content $\left(\right.C\left.\right)$ per cell changes and select the correct option.

NTA AbhyasNTA Abhyas 2022

Solution:

Synthesis of DNA occurs by DNA replication and the amount of DNA per cell doubles (C becomes 2C). It is important to note that in spite of the doubling DNA, chromosome number remains the same.
(ii) During anaphase as the division of centromere takes place, the chromatids move to the opposite poles, causing the DNA content to become half (from 2C to C), however, the number of chromosomes remains the same.
