AMUAMU 2003
Solution:
A naturally occurring parthenocarpic fruit is banana. Parthenocarpic fruits are seedless fruits. These fruits are formed without fertilization so that functional seeds are absent. It is also a false berry due to fussion of epicarp with thalamus to form skin, which is not edible. Apple is simple fleshy or succulents fruit. It is a pome where thalamus is enlarged to form fleshy part. Pericarp is cartilaginous and encloses seed bearing loculi. Mango is a drupe, in which epicarp is not edible. Mesocarp is pulpy and edible. The fruit of guava is a berry (inferior berry). In guava, all the three layers are edible.
