- Location: Dorsal side of forebrain.
- A hormone secreted: Melatonin.
- Functions of melatonin :
$1.$ Melatonin is very important for the regulation of a 24-hour (diurnal) rhythm of our body.
Example: It helps in maintaining the normal rhythms of the sleep-wake cycle, body temperature, etc.
$2.$ It also affects - metabolism, pigmentation, menstrual cycle, and our immune system.
