Q. An element crystallises in a b.c.c. lattice. Nearest and next nearest neighbours are respectively

The Solid State

Solution:

In a $b.c.c.$ structure $C.N.$ (Every atoms touches $8$ other atoms, $4$ in a layer below it and $4$ In a layer above it)
However, there are $6$ other atoms (in six adjacent cubic sites) which are only slightly away from it. Thus, these $6$ atoms are the next nearest neighbours.
