Q. An electric dipole with $P=10D$ is placed in a uniform electric field of magnitude, $E=10NC^{- 1}$ . The angle between them is $180^\circ $ . Find the torque experienced by the dipole.

Solution:

The force on the dipole is negative direction of $z$ -axis, so $\theta =180^{0}$
$\therefore \, \, $ Torque on dipole, $\tau=PEsin 180^{0} = 0$
