Q. An electric dipole of moment $p$ is lying along a uniform electric field $E$. The work done in rotating the dipole by $180^{\circ}$ is

Electric Charges and Fields

Solution:

$ W =p E\left(\cos \theta_{1}-\cos \theta_{2}\right) $
$ W =p E\left(\cos 0^{\circ}-\cos 180^{\circ}\right) $
$W =p E(1-(-1))=2 p E $
