Q. An electric dipole of dipole moment $\vec{P}$ is released in a uniform electric filed $\vec{E}$ from the position of maximum torque. The angular speed of the dipole when $\vec{P}$ becomes parallel to $\vec{E}$ will be $[I$ is moment of inertia of dipole]

Solution:

$\Delta K=\Delta U$
$\frac{1}{2} I \omega^{2}=P E \cos 0^{\circ}-P E \cos 90^{\circ}$
$\frac{1}{2} I \omega^{2}=P E$
$\omega=\sqrt{\frac{2 P E}{I}}$
