Q. An electric dipole is placed in an uniform electric field $\vec{E}$ such that the dipole moment $\vec{p}$ makes an angle $\beta(\neq 0)$ with $\vec{E}$. The force and torque acting on the dipole are respectively given by

Electric Charges and Fields

Solution:

In a uniform electric field, a dipole experiences zero force.
And torque acting on the dipole, $\vec{\tau}=\vec{p} \times \vec{E}$.
