Q. An alkene $C_{4}H_{8}$ undergoes catalytic hydrogenation to give alkanes. How many different alkane are possible?
$\underset{\text{(all isomers)}}{C_{4}H_{8} {\text{(alkene)}}} \xrightarrow[{Ni}]{H_{2} }(B)$ (exclude stereoisomer)

Haloalkanes and Haloarenes

Solution:

$B=2$,
But-$1$-ene and But-$2$-ene will give same alkane, i.e, $n$-Butane
$2$-Methylprop-$1$-ene will give $2$-methylpropane
