Q. An aeroplane moving horizontally at a speed of $200 \, m \, s^{- 1}$ and at a height of $8 \times 10^{3 \, }m$ is to drop a bomb on a target. The horizontal distance from the target should the bomb be released is (Take $g=10 \, m \, s^{- 2}$ )

Solution:

$\mathrm{t}=\sqrt{\frac{2 h}{g}}=\sqrt{\frac{2\left(8 \times 10^3\right)}{10}}=\sqrt{1600}=40 \mathrm{~s}$
$x=vt=\left(200\right)\left(40\right)=8000m$
