After meiosis-I, the resultant daughter cells contain twice the amount of DNA in comparison to haploid gametes. Meiosis-I causes segregation of homologous pairs of chromosomes. However, each chromosome is double-stranded, having two sister chromatids due to DNA replication before the beginning of meiosis.
